Possum Magic - Original Artwork

A$550.00

Mixed media on yupo paper in white custom frame with double mount and green pin stripe.

Sugar gliders are both a native and introduced animal into Australia. While they are part of the natural eco-system on the mainland, they were introduced to Tasmania in the 1800’s originally as a pet. Sugar gliders have therefore had an adverse impact upon the Swift Parrot’s breeding habitat today in that region. The lace collar indicative of European influence is juxtaposed against the natural foliage on the tail to highlight the dual impact of this creature upon Australian flora and fauna.
