‘Shiny Things’ is the first in a series of painting workshops examining shiny still life objects. In this workshop you will be exploring the techniques behind creating convincing metallic surfaces using slow-drying acrylics. Working from brass, gold and silver objects, we’ll look closely at how light, colour and value interact to create the illusion of reflective metal.
From warm, glowing gold and brass to the cooler reflections of silver, you’ll develop practical techniques for painting a range of metallic surfaces with greater confidence and realism.
What will I learn?
Colour mixing for metals: creating the distinctive colour palettes needed for brass, gold and silver.
Colour shifts in reflected light: discovering how reflected colours transform the appearance of metallic surfaces.
Blending and glazing: using smooth transitions and transparent layers to build luminosity and depth.
Gradual value shifts: learning to control light and dark to describe form and create convincing reflections.
What is included?
· Premium materials included (Golden Open Acrylics, panel support and brushes)
· Small class for personalised instruction from a teacher with 25+ years experience.
· Takeaway reference sheet
· You will walk away with your own finished still life painting on wood panel

Who is the course suitable for?
· The workshop is suitable for people with some experience in painting however it will cater to early learners through to advanced.

· What happens if we have to cancel last minute?
If you need to cancel please advise at least 24 hours prior to class. You will have credit to attend another workshop in the future.
· Is there wheelchair access and a bathroom on site?
Unfortunately, we do not have wheelchair access as my studio is located upstairs. We have a bathroom facilities available downstairs.
· Is this workshop suitable for children?
This workshop is aimed primarily for adults or 16 years and above. If you have a teen that is attending with you and you would like to join, you are most welcome.
