‘Feathers and Lace’ is a twelve part online course, over four hours, that demonstrates how to use slow drying acrylics to create a photorealist fantasy inspired owl painting. We take a deep dive into my process where I show you how to prepare your substrate, utilise a sta wet palette, explore compositional techniques, digital manipulation of references, gridding techniques, colour mixing, glazing, overpainting and varnishing. I take you from start to the finish of a resolved artwork where you will learn to master how to paint owl feathers and various lace fabrics. This course is perfect as an introduction into slow drying acrylics or even for more experienced artists who would like to learn specific techniques for painting birds. The principles in this course can also be applied to other areas of your painting practice. This course has unlimited access and all lessons can be downloaded.

I have been teaching for twenty years and refining my style for the past fifteen. I would love to share my experience and joy of creating with you in a five lesson course over 2.5 hours, which spans three different projects and variety of wet and dry mediums. If you have been looking for detailed demonstrations on how to achieve strong composition, apply stylisation and rendering techniques specific to portraiture or simply are searching for new media and substrates then this is exactly where you need to be. We will explore shading with mechanical pencils, alcohol markers, alcohol inks, watercolour markers, watercolour and coloured pencil in mixed media formats on various substrates. This course has lifetime access and all lessons can be downloaded.
