What will I learn?

·      Techniques for slow drying acrylics

·      Blocking and building up lights and darks

·      Feather texture

·      Refinement using small brushes

Who is the course suitable for?

 The workshop is suitable for people with some experience in painting however it will cater to early learners through to advanced.

 

About the Tutor

Rachel is a contemporary surreal wildlife artist working with oil and acrylic paints on cradled wood panel as well as ceramic sculpture. She graduated from Griffith University with a Bachelor of Illustration in 1997 and a Bachelor of Education in 2000.

 In her artworks, Rachel constructs imagery that combines realistic painting methods in fantastical scenes that whisk the viewer away to otherworldly places. Using her knowledge of illustration, Rachel’s work is grounded in historic research which explores the connection between the Australian environment and human nature.

 Rachel has been working as an art teacher for the past 26 years and has exhibited in Australia, New Zealand, the United States and Portugal.
